Results – The best Star Wars film is… The Empire Strikes Back!

Well for once the results have come inย  exactly as I expected. It’s no real surprise that Empire was voted the best, although I happen to disagree and rate Return of the Jedi just above it myself. Then comes in A New Hope and Return of the Jedi as the other classic favorites, a little bit of love for Revenge of the Sith, and then Episode I & II arriving at the end with no votes whatsoever. As a particular fan of Return, it was nice to see that Empire didn’t dominate the other results, and in fact came fairly close to losing out to one of the others from the original trilogy at one stage.

Anyway, thank you all for voting! Read on for a summary of the results below, and keep an eye open for the next poll which will be arriving shortly.

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back – 33.33%
Episode IV: A New Hope – 25%
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi – 25%
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith – 16.67%
Episode I : The Phantom Menace – 0%
Episode II: Attack of the Clones – 0%

  1. Though I prefer the original, Empire comes real close. Agree with the rankings and I’m glad someone voted for Return of the Jedi, which is the most underrated of all of them.

    1. Yeah all three of the originals run pretty close together in my eyes, I’m glad that you think Return is underrated! ๐Ÿ™‚
The most surprising thing in my eyes is that multiple people voted for Revenge of the Sith over the others, but then if you are going to vote outside of the original trilogy then that makes sense.
      Thanks for commenting!

  2. Good results ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. I’m glad that you agree!

  3. Surprised that RotJ tied Star Wars!

    1. So was I, but as I said in the post I’m glad that it was so much closer than I had expected. For a short while I really wasn’t sure which way the votes were swinging!

  4. Return of the Jedi is my favorite!

    1. Nice one ๐Ÿ˜€ Unfortunately we often seem to be in the minority don’t we!

  5. Return of the Jedi?? Really?? Pathetic representations of aliens. The Ewoks simply do not exist in the universe.

    1. No trust me they do, I’ve met several of them and they were very pleasant. They kept on gesturing toward a giant cooking pot but I had to refuse them as I wasn’t hungry at the time. Still though, they absolutely exist.

      1. I bet they wanted you to get into the pot so they could cook you! I don’t trust them. They may act all nice and fuzzy, but they suppress their anger very well. Watch out for them.

    2. Hmm they didn’t strike me as murdering teddy bears that wanted to eat me, but now you mention it, I remember seeing some giant spit-roast type contraption… Thanks for the heads up, I’ll bear it in mind.

      1. Just trying to keep you safe!

I agree that ROTJ is a better film; a more complete film and with more tension and climaxe. It’s also the film that resonates most now with the prequel trilogy. Of course once Disney’s finished doing its business nothing will ever resonate again, but that’s another matter ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

    1. Yeah that’s true about it resonating most with the addition of the prequels.
I’m still desperately holding out a glimmer of hope for Disney, I’m going to keep with the ‘you never know’ attitude until more details come to light.
