Matt Smith Joins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

This on again off again adaptation has just bagged the Doctor to help fight its zombies.

I don’t really know what to make of this project…. As a fan of Austen’s novel I’m simultaneously repulsed by the idea of throwing zombies into the mix and excited to see the novel shaken up in what could be quite a unique and fun way. Regardless of quite how the end project will turn out, its journey has been pretty hellish so far with people coming to and leaving the project all the time. After all it lost Natalie Portman a long time ago, the role of Elizabeth now having gone to Lily James.

Matt Smith has taken on the role of Mr Collins; which is the fun role of a bumbling, rude and idiotic man which Matt Smith could nicely put his own spin on. I imagine he could be a lot of fun as the character. Having said that I have no idea how Collins would fare in a zombie apocalypse and so his character could be somewhat changed in the film. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Burr Steers is directing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Matt Smith’s costars include Douglas Booth, Lily James, Jack Huston and Sam Riley. It’s scheduled to reach us next year… unless it hits any more problems along the way.
